South Korea Gives Bali Provincial Government 11 Electric Buses & 6 Fuel Supply Stations: A Great Step to Reduce Emissions on the Island of the Gods!

pandaraprima.com - The island of Bali, with its incredibly aesthetic vibe and consistently a favorite destination, just received some very exciting news. The Republic of Korea government officially handed over a substantial grant of 11 state-of-the-art electric buses, complete with six charging stations, to the Bali Provincial Government. This bold step is taken to expand the environmentally friendly public transportation network while simultaneously reducing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming.

The arrival of this new fleet is certainly a breath of fresh air for the mobility of Balinese residents and tourists who want to travel without feeling guilty about the environment. Curious about the excitement and details of this high-level bilateral collaboration? Check out the complete review we've compiled especially for you below!

A Great Synergy Between Two Countries: Commitment to Preventing Climate Change

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Indonesia, Yoon Soon-Gu, expressed his pride and hope at the official launch event in Denpasar on Thursday. He emphasized that the donation of 11 electric buses and six electric charging stations (SPKLU) is expected to help Bali reduce emissions and improve public transportation services. With the arrival of this new fleet, travel for local residents and tourists will be much cleaner and more comfortable.

Ambassador Yoon Soon-Gu also added that this program is a major task that Korea and Indonesia must shoulder together. He considered this initiative highly meaningful and timely for preserving the natural environment and cultural heritage of the Island of the Gods. This step also represents a concrete manifestation of the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries following President Prabowo's visit to South Korea last April.

This exciting project combines Korean government grant funding, the expertise of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), industrial technology from both countries, and the strong commitment of the Bali Provincial Government. The Korean government hopes that the experience gained from this electric bus project will foster environmentally friendly transportation policies that can be replicated in other regions of Indonesia.

The Amazing Benefits of Bali's Electric Bus

This grant project is not simply a free vehicle distribution initiative; it has measurable, long-term impacts that are highly beneficial to both the environment and the community. GGGI Indonesia Country Representative, Rowan Fraser, outlined several positive impacts and direct benefits of this electric bus fleet for Balinese mobility. Here are some of the key benefits of the Bali electric bus project:

1. Quality Transportation Services

Capable of serving the transportation needs of more than 230,000 passengers over the next 10 years.

2. Significant Carbon Emission Reduction

Capable of drastically cutting and reducing carbon emissions by more than 2,200 tons of CO2.

3. Clean Air Free from Pollution

Providing much fresher and cleaner air quality because the bus fleet operates without exhaust emissions.

4. Inclusive & Pocket-Friendly Transportation

Providing easy access to transportation with special rates for students and people with disabilities.

5. Full Asset Ownership

The entire fleet of electric buses and SPKLUs have officially become full assets of the Bali Provincial Government.

6. National Scale Research References

This electric bus operational data will form the basis of a feasibility study for the government to develop an electric bus scheme throughout Indonesia.

Combination of Advanced Technology & AI-Based Future Plans

GGGI Indonesia's Bali E-Mobility Project Manager, Jaepyo Chun, revealed that the project, worth a US$6.6 million grant from the Korean Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment, took three years to complete. The process was challenging, as it is the only grant in the world that accommodates the Domestic Component Level (TKDN).

This collaboration combines Hyundai from Korea, assembled into bus bodies at the Laksana Semarang bodywork shop, in collaboration with PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR) and VKTR. Next year, the Bali Provincial Government and its team will develop Bali's first fleet management system for electric buses and SPKLUs, combined with demand-responsive transportation.

This integrated technology development is specifically designed to improve accessibility and comfort for passengers while traveling. In the next development stage, this sophisticated system will be equipped with a modern control room center, real-time monitoring, and an AI-based passenger booking system.
